Sawyer Free Library
Located in the idyllic downtown of Gloucester, MA, the Sawyer Free Library is a well-loved community hub that is being renovated and greatly expanded to meet the needs of present and future generations.
G2 is working closely with the architecture team, composed of Oudens Ello and Dore + Whittier, to design accessible entrances, relocate a beloved fountain, and design new plazas and walkways for community use and congregation. The current parking lot is being carefully redesigned to ensure pedestrian safety and maximize parking spaces. The new design is seeking LEED Gold accreditation, with the landscape design contributing an on-site rainwater management system, permeable pavers, and a native and pollinator-focused planting palette.
