Northfield Mount Hermon School, founded in 1879, is arrayed upon the east side of Mount Hermon overlooking the Connecticut River Valley. A Master Plan was created by the design team which plans for future development of the campus while maintaining the picturesque spirit of the landscape that is critical to the pedagogic mission of the school.
Based on a rigorous research and site analysis phase, recommendations were made for future building locations for academic buildings, faculty and student housing, and administration. Proposed additions to pedestrian and vehicular circulation address pragmatic needs such as parking, loading and deliveries, and existing pedestrian/vehicular conflicts, but also seek to address larger goals of establishing circulation routes which allow one to experience the landscape in a dramatic, sequential manner.
