SOPHIA SNOW PLACE

Sophia Snow Place is a senior living community with a mission to empower older adults to live purposefully with dignity and well-being. To support this mission, it strives to create a comfortable living community at a reasonable cost, and they have placed great importance on their surrounding landscape as a space for healing and healthy living. They have become stewards of their corner of the adjacent Allendale Woods which is one of Boston’s few vernal pool habitats. G2 supported Sophia Snow Place’s efforts by designing a restorative garden that provides residents and the public a new landscape of native plantings as well as access to these important ecological resources. Central to the garden was creating a fully accessible path that navigates a steep site, allowing for residents and visitors with mobility challenges to experience the garden and surrounding landscape. G2 designed a slip-resistant boardwalk to limit below-grade disturbance while winding its way down to the level of the vernal pool, making new green connections between Sophia Snow and the surrounding neighborhood network of community amenities and open spaces.
