Located along the banks of Library Pond, the Sheldon Hall landscape redesign reimagines a historic site as a dynamic student-centered environment. Building on the hall’s elevated vantage and sweeping pond views, the design transforms quiet formal grounds into a sequence of welcoming social spaces.
The entry courtyard, framed with stone walls, warm lighting, and plantings, creates a lively threshold for daily campus life. To the north, the grand terrace unfolds into patios and open lawns that accommodate both formal events and informal gatherings, with moveable seating that invites flexible use. At the northwest promontory, a timber pergola with swings and panoramic views offers a destination for reflection and community. Along the western slope, a new walkway and reclaimed granite steps provide direct access to the water’s edge, integrating ecological plantings that enhance the pondside experience.
